Ovine Suite

This series evolved from several photos a friend had taken in Washington state. She was staying at a B and B whose pasture was home to a herd of sheep. Judy arrived at their feeding time and so was able to photograph them at fairly close range. I asked her if I might use her images as references for paintings. At that time I was working in watercolor and gouache. As noted, I used acrylic for only one small painting. I love the expressiveness of the individual sheep and that they were tagged with names, such as Aretha, Fancy, Chala, and Louise, that contributed to my sense of their personalities.
